Umami Restaurant Group has opened up one of their latest burger places on University Avenue in Palo Alto, California. I’m always in search of a great burger, so a friend joined me so we could give them a try. I typically have a burger about twice a year, so when I do have one, I like my burger adorned with only the simplest of condiments. That way I can really taste the great quality of the beef cooked to my liking. Which is rare.
But at Umami, you’ll find unique burger choices like the Umami Burger which included shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted tomato, parmesan crisp, and house ketchup. Phew!! So, I tried this version and this truly was quite the ultimate burger. Their burgers are packed with tons of flavor goodies, which are really quite a taste sensation. Not too shabby!
My friend ordered the house-made truffle cheese with a truffle glaze burger. And, he sampled their house-made tater tots which had a nice crisp exterior with a soft mashed potato interior. Pretty yummy! The fries where my favorite. And one of my favorite indulgences are fresh made crispy french fries. With plain old catsup.
If your looking for an alternative to the traditional beef burger, they also offer an ahi tuna burger, a turkey burger, and a burger made with a mushroom and edamame patty. The photos look pretty amazing on their web site.
If you haven’t heard of Umami Burger, they are located all over country so their might be one close to you. Worth checking out.

This is the Unumi Burger I enjoyed. With shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted tomato, parmesan crisp, and house ketchup, it was mouthwatering goodness!
I had a colorful healthy salad to go with my naughty burger and fries. Now that’s nice!
