Donato Enoteca Restaurant ~ a Stranded Foodie Favorite

Who doesn’t love a creamy rich plate of pasta. Especially with some finely shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and a hint of truffle. With only a few very simple but flavorful ingredients, this dish was made in foodie heaven. And guess what… it was a gift from the chef to all of us who were seated at the counter. As the plates of pasta were placed in front of each person to my left, I was thinking how funny that they all ordered the same dish. Then, another plate of this pasta goodness was placed in front of me! It was my lucky night at Donato Enoteca in Redwood City, California. When in the area, this place is one of my favorite places to dine.

Since Donato’s has a superb happy hour offering, I sometimes enjoy sitting at the bar to sip on one of their tasty cocktails with a couple of appetizers. The bar and the entire back of the restaurant was closed to a private party the night I received my pasta gift. I remember feeling a bit disappointed that the bar area wasn’t open, but they graciously sat me at the counter in the main dining room. (Little did I know what I was about to receive!) For me, the counter is the perfect place to dine because you can view all the action of the food being prepared. The process of pizzas being assembled and finished in their wood-burning pizza oven is so entertaining. Who doesn’t love to watch food being made! The chef whipped up a special dish for the private party that looked so delectable, I was trying to concoct a way to join in on that dinner party. I can only say they took such good care of me and a big thanks goes out to Chef Donato Scotti and his staff. What a memorable pasta!

Now, I’m feeling a bit “food stranded,” so I’m on a search for this rich pasta recipe and I promise to share it with you as soon as I secure the secret. In the mean time, hope you enjoy the photos of this great place to eat. Bon Appetito!
